The updated design honors its predecessor’s cool vibes and brings it into the modern age with an updated style and advanced technology. The VW ID. Buzz has been available in Europe for nearly a year and quickly sold out. The US version will be bigger and more powerful to meet America’s demands in the large SUV-forward market.

US ID. Buzz Standout Features
The 2025 VW ID. Buzz is based on the 1960s VW Type 2 Microbus, aptly named for its small yet practical dimensions. It’s mostly associated with the chill, beachy lifestyle and can transform from a surfing transport to a #vanlife glamper. The European version came out last year with seating for up to five passengers and a cargo van model. The US version will come as a three-row minivan with the option for second-row captain’s chairs. The third-row seats will be removable, so you’ll have ample cargo storage when you don’t need seating for six to seven passengers. The extra row of seating is possible because the US version has a longer wheelbase than the European model by ten inches.
Electrified Performance
Another big difference between the European version and the US version of the ID. Buzz is the more powerful battery pack in the US long-wheelbase model. European ID. Buzz models produce just over 200 horsepower with their 77-kilowatt-hour battery and can travel about 258 miles on a full charge with a top speed of 90 mph. The US version of the ID. Buzz will have a longer wheelbase and a stronger 86-kilowatt-hour battery pack that produces 282 horsepower with the single motor and 330 horsepower with the dual motor. The US version also has an electronically limited max speed of 99 mph thanks to the more powerful battery. Although the exact range for the US ID. Buzz is not available at the moment. Based on the specifications of current VW electric vehicles, we expect the range to be about 260 miles per charge.
Charging Options
The US ID. Buzz will have fast-charging capabilities like the European version, allowing it to go from 10 to 80 percent charge in around 30 minutes at DC fast-chargers around Fort Carson and Monument, CO. Flexible charging options are available, including Level I charging with the portable cable and Level II for faster charging at home.
Retro Good Looks, Modern Comforts
The VW ID. Buzz is as bold as it is nostalgic, with the familiar rounded rectangular shape and large VW log on the front. The front fascia is not as vertical as the original, but the design reflects a modernized version of the classic. Like the European version, the US VW ID. Buzz will come in exciting two-toned colorway options and bright, throw-back colors that will stand out on Falcon and Castle Rock, CO, roads.

Inside the new ID. Buzz will have modern comforts like a digitized center console, adjustable ambient lighting, USB-C ports, massaging front seats, and more. As a nod to the eco-friendly cred, the upholstery is made from recycled plastic. The optional 67.4-inch electrochromic sunroof will bring the wow factor with a one-touch glass darkening feature.
Modern Connected Technology
The star of the cabin, besides the exceptional passenger space and cargo capacity, is the digitized center console, which features a massive 12.9-inch touchscreen and 10-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard connected features will include Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
